A typical office day – or is it not?

It’s a loud morning. I’m in the subway. It’s 6am, and I’m so close to fall asleep. The people in the subway are talking, screaming and just being loud. But that’s how every morning in New York is. I mean, that’s not even close how bad my day in the office is going to be – boring. My lame boss expects me to be there at 7am, awake and full of energy. It’s cold, but my suit is keeping me a little bit warm. „Oh no, now there’s traffic, if I don’t get to the office at the right time, I’m going to be late“, I think. I’m going to the subway driver, who’s on the phone.

„Excuse me, could you please get foreward?“ I ask him. Then he gave me a grumpy look and he said: „Then drive yourself. Here, I’m disgusted by this job.“ I just go back to my seat to avoid trouble. Then after a long time I get out of this loud subway. Apart from always getting in this stinky subway, NYC is a beautiful city. I’m running between the cars because it’s too late to go to the traffic light. Cars are honking at me while I’m running through the street. Now I’m in the building, where my work is.

At the right time I arrived at the elevator. From now on are my thoughts just: „I hope I don’t get yelled at. That’s my 5th time being late, oh I’m so scared!“ I have my eyes closed, so closed that my eyes are hurting. „Sir, the elevator is open“, said the lady who was with me. Right when I was stepping out, the elevator closed. I’m getting panic. One floor downstairs the elevator got open and I ran out. Now I get the stairs.  I’m running so fast that I didn’t notice something falling out of my bag. Now I get in the office.

There is he – my boss. Brown Hair with a little gray in it, a dark blue suit and a typical American face. He turns around and looks at me with the angriest face I’ve seen of him. He shouts: „Come here! Right now!“ My heart is beating like a drum. Breathe, breathe. From this moment he begins to shout at me. „It’s 8:30 in the morning and you walk in here when you want like you are the boss? I am and you need to follow my rules! It’s the 5th time you’re coming late. You know what? I am done with that. Give me your work you had to do!“ Take a big breath don’t overreact. I’m searching for the work, but oh no, crap where is it? I’m searching and searching. „I’m waiting“, he says. He is standing in front of a big open window, walking in the same circle.

„Uh boss, I can’t find it, but I swear I did it, it must have fallen out of my purse!“ I tell him. He was drinking out of his water bottle, but when he heard this, he spit it all out. „You have what?“ he whispers. Then he begins to scream really loud. Important to mention, that all the people of the office are standing around. I’m not even hearing the sentences or words he’s screaming, but if we go back to the moment he spit the water out. That water got on our officecat. That cat jumps right now at him and scratches his face. Now they both are fighting. If I’m being honest, I’m a little bit laughing, but suddenly, all at once, he falls. He falls back through the open window.

I’m not even realizing what’s happening. I’m rushing to the window and there I look down. And… thank God. He’s alive. My work colleagues are already calling 911. He is reaching for my hand because the others are too scared. Suddenly one of his hands isn’t holding the outside of the window anymore. He’s screaming and getting a panic attack. I’m trying to comfort him, but all at once I’m close to seeing black. My breath is getting heavier and my boss’s voice is fading, his help-searching screaming. „Sir? Hello! Help me-“ His voice is getting quieter and quieter. -Beep- „What’s this sound? Am I not in the office with my falling boss anymore? What’s happening?“ I think. Now I start to realize. „Why am I at the hospital?“…
