1. What was your first impression of Germany?
My first impression of Germany is, that the buildings are very colourful. Just very different to our Scottish buildings. The second thing was that the cars are either BMWs, Mercedes or Volkswagens and Audis.
I felt as if I was in some kind of dream. It was amazing.
2. Are there some clichés you’ve heard about before the exchange?
Yes, I knew that the sausages and bread are most delicious in Bavaria :).
3. Are they true?
Yes :).
4. What is the biggest difference between Germany and Scotland?
That’s a hard question I would say. I would say the infrastructure is different, the buildings entirely, they are, as I said earlier, made out of different coloures and in Scotland they’re all bricks, sandstone or limestone and all of it really has a kind of gray shade of coulor as it it was covered by a shadow. Here in Germany it’s all very bright and it makes you very happy.
5. What is the biggest difference in schools?
The biggest difference in schools I would say is that there are a lot of places with lockers and in our school we only have a few places with lockers. Overall there are lots of classes und a lot of halls und places to walk through, and there are quite a lot of toilets. A very big difference is that there are different toilets, for men and women and girls and boys, ‚cause in our school we only have a teacher’s toilet in a teacher’s office.
6. What did you like most here already?
Firstly, I really, really enjoyed visiting the towns like Nürnberg, Regensburg and Munich but what I most
enjoyed in those towns is looking at the beautiful old buildings, the old towns, I found they were having their own charm. But what I also found quite interesting is the Christmas market.
You don’t find anything like that as it is in Germany.
I also so much enjoyed seeing the stadium, the „Allianz-Arena“. I was left speechless, it was my first time being there.
7. What are you looking forward to in the next days?
I’m really looking forward being at lessons because I’m quite interested to see how they look in Germany so I can see the differences between our lessons and the German ones.
Thanks for the interview!
